Bicycle Race | The Quest for a decent bike shop

Since I am somehow disappointed by the service within the retail industry, let’s try it this way. I am looking for a new (or a good used) bike. A road bike. I was looking at quite a lot of sites (and big offline stores, but don’t talk about this one. they really suck in terms of service) and expected behavioral targeting to do the rest. But unfortunately it didn’t 😉

The sites I had a look at had some interesting offers but consistently refused to answer my emails. Since I think that it’s the retailers who should be happy to serve the customer and not the other way round I decided to not write or call again. Instead I use my blog and have a look whether some bike retailers do kinda social media monitoring, blog research or something similar. If this works out, THE ONE THAT COMES UP WITH THE BEST OFFER, will be featured as a best practice case over here.

So bike shops out there, here’s what I want:

  • road bike / racing cycle (like a bike, not just a frame)
  • frame/tire size: 53 / 28”
  • clipless pedals would be nice
  • helmet
  • not to expensive. just starting again after quite a long time .

Let’s see if this works out. I’ll be looking at some smaller retailers over here in Vienna to – so it’s gonna be interesting what will be more successful. I finally want to ride a bicycle!

Dream on little dreamer, dream on! Thinking that it’s the retailers who should be happy to serve the customer and not the other way round is a bit naive in my opinion. I know that you know that and that’s where our chances are to change the market and the way it has worked for the last decades.

You don’t really expect any of those retailers to do social media monitoring, blog research or something similar. I consider your blog entry a nice April Fools Day Joke. 😀 Happy Easter to you!
